Preserving the stories, recollections and voices of Maine.

Giving voice to history

Giving Voice To History and Preserving Treasures

Family heritage is a gift no one else can give.

Scanning and Digitization of Historic Photos

Peter Leroy and Elsie SuratOral History and Folklife Research can scan and digitize historic photos in historical society, library, or family collections, making them more accessible, and putting them in organized collections.  We can also clean up some images to enhance aesthetic and clarity.  Almost every home has that shoebox full of old photos hidden in the back of the closet that will get organized “someday.” We can be that “someday,” and rescue those images while the individuals and places in the images can still be identified by living memory.  We have the capability to scan both prints and negatives on site, without removing them to another location.
